The everyday rhythm
You set the rule. Then keep giving.
The giving wallet is a record of gifts waiting to be collected. It is a ledger, not money held by Silent Hand.
A few common questionsLog a bill after a purchase.
Enter the amount by hand. There is no automatic bank transaction detection today.
Let your giving rule set a little aside.
Round up to the next dollar, choose a percentage, or set a flat amount. Every gift is at least 50 cents.
Mark it General, Sadaqah or Zakat. Split regular gifts across several causes. Gifts marked Zakat can only go to Zakat-eligible causes.
See it in your giving wallet.
Your ledger records the set-aside gifts. Logging a bill does not trigger a payment. Silent Hand's 3% fee and payment processing are shown before anything is collected.
Collect the week on Friday.
The default Friday level is $5. If your balance reaches that level, it is collected by bank transfer, with a separate charge for each cause you support. You can change the level at any time. Below your level, gifts roll forward to the next Friday.
On the last Friday of the month, anything of 50 cents or more is collected, even if it is below your usual level.
Pay each cause directly.
Each charity has its own verified account. Your money goes straight to those accounts, according to your split. Silent Hand's fee is split off per donation into its own account.
There is no pooled account. Bank transfers take about four business days to settle.
Before the collection
Know what leavesyour account.
By default, you cover the fees, so the estimated fees are added to what you pay. The payment processor takes its fee from the full amount charged, so the charity receives close to the whole gift, not exactly all of it: in the $10 example, about $10.00 by bank transfer and about $9.97 by card. You can turn fee cover off, and fees will come out of the gift instead.
Bank transfer is the default. Card is available as a backup. Switching to card shows the real numbers before the change takes effect.
