Privacy policy, draft
Your information.Handled with care.
Draft for review, not yet in effect. The final policy will name Silent Hand's legal entity and a contact address, and will be reviewed by an attorney before launch.
Silent Hand helps people turn everyday purchases into charitable giving. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address when you create an account.
- Bills and giving activity. The bills you enter, the amounts you set aside and give, your giving rules, the causes you choose, and the intention you mark. This lets us show your history and a year summary.
- Payment information. Stripe processes payments. Card and bank details are entered on Stripe's secure pages and kept by Stripe. Silent Hand does not store full card numbers or bank logins. Stripe's own privacy policy governs its handling of that information.
- Organization information. The name, city, type, EIN, and Zakat status submitted for an organization to be reviewed. Bank account details submitted during Stripe's hosted onboarding go to Stripe.
Bills are entered manually today. If we add automatic purchase detection in future, we will update this policy before it is turned on.
How we use information
- To process gifts and route them to the verified organizations you choose.
- To show your giving history, intention tracking, and progress against the annual Zakat goal you set.
- To provide a year summary for your own records.
- To review organizations, keep the service secure, and help prevent fraud.
Each charity is paid directly into its own verified account. Silent Hand's fee is split off per donation into its own account. Silent Hand does not pool donations or hold them in its own balance.
Who receives information
- Stripe receives your email address and payment details to process gifts.
- The charities you give to receive each payment in their own Stripe account, along with the payment details Stripe shows them.
- Service providers that host the app's data and send sign-in codes process information on Silent Hand's behalf.
Limits on how we use information
- Silent Hand does not sell personal information.
- Your giving activity is not shown publicly. You can choose to share your own year summary.
- Full card numbers and bank logins are entered with Stripe and are not stored by Silent Hand.
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. There is no account password to store.
Keeping and deleting data
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Donation records may be retained where required by law.
Children
Silent Hand is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
