Terms of use, draft
A few plain terms.
Draft for review, not yet in effect. These terms will be reviewed by Silent Hand's attorney before launch.
These draft terms describe the service and what to expect while Silent Hand is in testing.
What Silent Hand does
Silent Hand helps you set aside gifts from bills you enter, choose causes, and collect regular gifts on Fridays according to the level you set. You can mark a gift General, Sadaqah, or Zakat and track it in your giving history. Quick give lets you make one separate gift per day to one cause.
Testing status
The app is in testing. No real money moves yet, and the app is not yet in app stores. Test payments do not send real donations to charities. Features may change before launch.
Payments and fees
Stripe processes payments. When live payments are enabled, gifts will be paid directly to each charity's own verified account. Silent Hand's fee is split off per donation into its own account. Silent Hand never holds donations in a pooled account or in its own balance.
Silent Hand's fee is 3% of each gift. Stripe processing fees also apply. The fees are shown before collection. You cover fees by default, so estimated fees are added to what you pay. Because The payment processor takes its fee from the full amount charged, the charity receives close to, but not always exactly, the full gift. You can turn this off, in which case fees come out of the gift. A switch to card shows the actual amounts before it takes effect.
Bank transfers take about four business days to settle. A returned bank debit can carry a fee. See the fee explanation for estimates and a worked example.
The causes you choose
Silent Hand reviews and verifies organizations before they can receive gifts. That review cannot promise how an organization will use a gift. Choose causes with care and direct questions about their work to the organization.
Your own decisions
Silent Hand tracks the intentions you mark and your progress against a Zakat goal you choose. It does not calculate what you owe. You are responsible for your own religious and tax decisions. A scholar or imam can help with questions about what counts as Zakat.
Your account
Keep your account information accurate and your email account secure. Use Silent Hand only for lawful giving and do not misuse the service or another person's information.
You may stop using the service and request account deletion by contacting the team at the address listed on this page before launch. Silent Hand may suspend or close an account if it is misused or creates a security risk. Data handling is described in the privacy policy.
